Hemodialysis filters blood using a machine at a hospital/center, typically 3 times a week. Peritoneal dialysis uses the lining of your abdomen to filter blood and is done daily at home.

Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is often reversible with timely treatment. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) usually cannot be reversed, but its progression can be slowed down significantly with proper management.

An AV fistula is a surgical connection between an artery and a vein, usually in the arm. It provides a robust access point for hemodialysis needles and is the preferred long-term access method.

Drinking plenty of water (2.5-3 liters/day) is the most important step. Reducing salt and animal protein intake also helps.
